Are Your Eyes Over The Ball and Is Your Putter Face Square At Impact

PRESS RELEASE
The Key to Perfect Eye Alignment

An English company has introduced a brilliant new practice aid that could be the answer for all those golfers who are struggling with their putting.

Midas Golf’s new Eclipse Putter Ball System helps the golfer to get his eyes directly over the ball at address and is also a useful tool for practising keeping the putter face square at impact.

The great attraction of the new Eclipse Putter Ball System is its simplicity and at a recommended retail price of just £7.99 it might well be best money a golfer can ever spend.

“I think it would be fair to say that just about all reputable golf coaches advocate both that your eyes should be directly over the ball when you’re putting and your putter head should be square to the target at impact,” said the inventor and Midas Golf’s Managing Director, Shaun Womersley

“However, that isn’t easy to accomplish unless you have someone standing over you, putting you in the right position. Fortunately, the new Eclipse Putter Ball System gets rid of the guesswork. It gives you instant feedback and helps you to adapt your address position as required.”

Womersley is a renowned club maker and over the years has developed a series of ideas to help amateur golfers to get the most from their games.

“We have spent a great deal of time trying to develop an aid to help golfers to set up over their putts correctly,” he said. “We have tried lasers and all sorts of other expensive ideas but, in the end, the idea for the Eclipse Putter Ball System came to me one night while I was lying in bed.

“It was such a simple idea that to begin with I didn’t think it could possible work,” he added. “But we’ve tested it extensively and know that it does the job.”

The concept is based around what happens when there is a total eclipse of the sun.

“I was thinking about an eclipse, when all of a sudden, I realised I could adapt the concept for our purposes,” said Womersley. “We set about manufacturing a simple aid that consisted of a golf ball and three plastic disks and, subsequently, all the feedback suggests we have developed an extremely useful tool that can be used for training, teaching and even when making a putter purchase.”
As a practice aid, the new Eclipse Putter Ball System is designed to be used in two different ways, both during practice and immediately before a round of golf.

The first use is what it gets its name from. The idea is to place the Eclipse Putter Ball System on the ground so that it is sitting on one of the discs. Then, address the ball as you would for a normal putt and you will immediately see whether or not your eyes are over the ball.

“The feedback is instantaneous,” said Womersley. “If you are addressing the ball correctly, you will see a perfect halo around the golf ball. However, if you see more of one side of the ball than the other, you have to alter your address position accordingly.

“We have found that a lot of people are surprised just how poor their address position is,” he added. “But, by altering the position, most soon start to putt much better.”

The feedback from the system’s second use also surprises even experienced golfers.

By turning the Eclipse Putter Ball System on its side, you can find out whether or not the face of your putter is square at impact. If it is, your putter head will make contact with the ball, it will feel like a normal putt and the ball will roll as normal. However, if you hit one or other of the discs first, it will quickly dive off line and bobble all over the place.

“It is surprising how far out you can be,” said Womersley. “This year, when we were exhibiting at the PGA Merchandise Show in Orlando, Florida, we met one professional who just couldn’t get the ball to roll no matter how he tried. That night, however, he took a system back to his hotel, worked at it and the following morning he won $800 in a pro-am. The next day, he won another $400.He could hardly believe it. He said it was the best he had putted for years.”

The Eclipse Putter Ball System has a recommended retail price of £7.99. It is available from professional shops and other retail outlets.
